Willow Creek also, in addition to boarding, offers training. If you board a horse, it only gets exercised as said by the owner. However, you may purchase training separately. This means that Willow Creek's own trainer will make a personal training chart for your horse and keep track of how the horse runs & etc. Of course, the chart will be run by the owner to see if everything is alright and agreeable.
Training for racehorses is $350 a month, per horse. We take 15% of all winnings.
If you would like us to break in your horse, we will. However, you should note that we do it differently. We take our young horse and use Clinton Anderson's groundwork exercises and such [the owner of Willow Creek is from Australia!]. When the horse is comfortable with that, we then take a Western saddle and put it on the horse. We continue to do the groundwork. We then pony the horse on the trails & the training track. After that, we hop on the horse in the round pen. We get them going at all paces and then we will throw on a racing saddle and have one of the exercise riders or jockeys try them in the pen. If their fine with everything, we then move onto racing.
Because of this, our breaking is more expensive. It is $500 a month, per horse. We try to get it done in 1 month. If it takes us a month & a half, your cost is only $750.
