Madison Elle Townsend drove up the winding driveway that lead to Shanmar Racing Yard. She had heard that the yard was looking for a trainer or something along those lines [she had been evsesdropping on a conversation at a cafe] and she was determined to get the job. Maddie, as she was often called, was driving her big King Ranch truck with a two-horse trailer hooked up to the back, holding her Hunter gelding Charlie and her daughter's Haflinger pony gelding, Max. Annabella, Maddie's eight-year-old daughter, was sleeping in the cab of the truck. She was using a stolen hotel pillow and a small fleece blanket. Maddie drove up to the barn, hoping that someone would be in the building. She shut off the truck and waited a moment before turning around to look at her daughter. She reached forward and shook Anna lightly. She smiled as Anna's pale blue eyes fluttered open. "Mommy is gonna go in the barn," she whispered. "You can stay out here if you'd like. I'll put the windows down so it doesn't get too hot." Anna nodded and then drifted off to sleep once more. Maddie put down the windows and then hopped out of the truck. She stretched and then walked around to the trailer to check on the horses. "Hey boys," she said to them. Charlie, her big grey Thoroughbred, looked over at her and then whinnied lightly. She smiled and kissed his muzzle. Max snuffed at her, asking for a treat. Maddie turned around and picked up a carrot. She broke it in half and feed each half to each horse. She then exited the trailer, walked up to the barn and stepped into the dim light. "Hello?" she called out, her voice echoing down the aisle. This is Max.And this is Charlie. xD

The office door swung open and a twenty two year old woman stepped out. She passed the stalls, and as she did so, Sataumo stuck his long neck out the door to butt her.
Hello there. Paige soothed, rubbing his forehead before looking into the mare's stall. She was still lying down. Tired 'eh? Stampede stood up and shook the shavings off her chestnut neck.
Hey. Paige smiled at Madison. Although younger, Paige had a sensible mind and was a horse fanatic. I'm Paige Lowley, owner of Shanmar Racing Yard. she laighed slightly as the filly, Yesterday, stuck her head on Madison's shoulder and nickered. Usually on the top yard, the racers were brought down to the barn when there were no races.

Maddie smiled back at Paige, noting that the other woman was younger than her. She had always thought that it would be awkward to work for someone younger than her, but then again... there was no saying that the yard was looking for a trainer - or that Paige wanted one. She stepped forward and as she did so, a horses head popped out at her. Maddie took another step back, catching her breath. She laughed and reached up to rub the horses head.
"Hello, sweetie," she said to the horse. She rubbed her muzzle and then dropped her hand, turning back to Paige. She tilted her head slightly to the side, smiling again. "Hi there," she began. "I'm Maddie Townsend. I was at a cafe this morning and I heard some rumors that you were looking for a trainer?" She tucked a piece of her brown, curly hair behind her ear and waited the response, hoping and praying that she would get a job.

Paige smiled as Yesterday turned towards her and started chewing her short blonde hair. Listening intently to Madison, Paige thought it over. Sure, she was a little experienced at horse training, but she could do with a specialised trainer.
"Sure. I'd love a trainer around. Are you a trainer?" Paige almost joked. Of course she was a trainer. Either that or she was the most random woman she had ever met. Yesterday, after Paige finished talking, stuck her head in the air and whinnied the loudest her vocals would let her. Paige sighed. "Here gal." She offered the filly a sugar cube. The thoroughbred chewed at the sugar, as Paige did up a blue headcollar with a lead robe clipped on. Un-doing the sliding bolt and kick bolt, Paige led the filly out.

Maddie watched the owner of the stable interact with the young filly. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth and knew that if Paige liked her and her training, it would be a good place to work.
She stepped out of the way as Paige led the filly from her stall. She ran her hand over the Thoroughbred's sleek coat and waited to follow them until they was safe enough away. Maddie jogged to catch up to Paige and then fell into step beside her.
"I'm not a trainer," she joked back. "Just a lousy jockey looking for a higher-paying job." She laughed, hoping that Paige would know she was joking. "Also... I kind of have two horses. And I need a place to keep them...." Maddie bit her lip, wondering if she was putting too much on this new, hopefully-soon-to-be-friend-and-trainer.

The filly pranced by the side of her own, lip back, nostrils large. Paige patted the filly's neck as she led her up towards the paddock.
|Sure. There are plenty of spaces in the back barn. Which plan do you want, Basic or Premium?| Paige asked kindly. as they reached the paddock that overlooked two large fields next to it, Yesterday half-reared. Mystic light, the only stud, stud with his head deep in grass in the field to the right.
Pulling back the unlocked field gate, Paige un-did the navy headcollar. Yesterday galloped into the middle of the paddock, and let off a series of bucks. With the headcollar slumped on her shoulder and the gate fastened, Paige turned to Maddie.
!Do you want to stay in my cabins? They have a ground floor and first floor, with two bedrooms and one bedroom. Plus, from both bedrooms there are views of both fields and the patchwork or smaller paddocks. Easy access to your horses and work.| Paige began to bribe Maddie, for the best.

Maddie smiled as her eyes followed the Thoroughbred filly; you could tell that she was happy to be out. She remembered when she first got Charlie how the big gray gelding would drag her out to the field and once she let go inside of the field, he would buck up and kick at her. He'd almost gotten her in the head a few times, but now... he was perfect. He hadn't been perfect at first and Maddie needed a horse to keep her horses in training company. So, she had bought Max; he was now her daughter's horse that she showed.
"Well, I dunno," she admitted, shrugging. "What does the basic offer and what does the premium offer?" She continued to watch the filly and then her mind drifted back to her two horses. They sure would be happy to get out of the trailer. "And I would certainly love to stay in your cabins. That would be awesome."

Paige sat on the fence, and Yesterday pointed her ears towards her owner. She smoothed the creases out of her jodphurs, and then thought about her boarding
"The basic is do it yourself. You have to buy a lot of things seperately. The premium is a plan where you can decide what you do and what I do. I'll give you a discount as you are my friend and you work for me...." she laughed.
She jumped off the fence, and then began to walk back down to the yard....
"I'm going to go to the auction now, I'll be back soon..." she called over her shoulder and waved.
------back------
The 4 x 4 car pulled up in the yard with a tailer in tow. A horse was whinnying from inside. Paige leapt out of her car with Maxx. They went round to the ramp and pulled it down
"Maddie! You here?" Paige called excitedly as she undid the double knot that held Zanzibar still in the trailer.

Maddie again watched the interaction between Paige and her filly. She smiled and thought about how her daughter acted with her Haflinger.
"I think I'll take the basic," she said before Paige hopped down. "I don't have any racers, so I guess doing everything myself is best." She smiled and then nodded as Paige walked off.
---later---
Maddie had unloaded her two horses and out them in an empty pasture, hoping that Paige wouldn't mind. She wasn't sure what stalls they were going in and figured that any pasture would be fine. Annabelle, her daughter, had woken up and was now trailing her mother around. Maddie was getting used to the barns, finding out where everything was - they had also groomed their horses in the field.
Maddie was just walking through one of the barns when she heard Paige calling her name. She jogged out of the barn and saw a trailer park. She walked around back and saw a big horse in the trailer.
"Hi there," she said. Annabelle kept out of the way, hiding behind her mother. "He's gorgeous!"

Paige stroked the bay's neck, as he turned his head and stared at the two new people, thew hites of his eyes showing. They had a beautful connection. He turned his dial and laid it on her shoulder, sucking her hair. She hugged his broad neck, whispering something into his ear. She took the leadrobe and led the mahogany coloured stallion down the ramp. His ears were perked up, and when they walked past Annabella, he lowered his head and pushed it into Anna's chest.
"He's stunning isn't he. His show name is Caballo Del Illueva, but since I've always known him as Zanzibar or Zan, that will be his barn name." she smiled as he nickered at Maddie.
She led the stallion into the large roomy barn and turned him into the large box stall next to the office. He pulled towards the haynet as she saw it, and begun to grab at the strands.
"Maddie, would you be kind enough to get his tack from the trailer and put it in the tack room. There is a stand and a hook for each stall. The tack room is next to my office on the other side." she smiled as she grabbed the grooming kit from outside the stall. She began working on his coat with a body brush.

Anna giggled when the big bay horse pushed his head into his chest. She then spun around and hide behind her mother. Maddie smiled when he nickered at her and she followed Paige into the barn, Anna holding her hand.
"So, you've known him before now?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. When Paige asked her to get the tack from the trailer, she nodded and turned around. Anna stuck behind, shyly standing away from Zan and Paige.
Maddie hurried out to the trailer and stepped inside. She found all of Zan's tack and collected it. She went straight to the tack room and found a place to put Zan's tack. Once she was finished with that, Maddie went to toward the group in the aisle.

Paige brushed out the dirt from the tail with the body brush, and then pulled the knots out with her hands. She patted his hindquarters, and then stood thinking.
"I've known him before at my aunt's farm. Do you want to ride on the gallops a bit. You two can bring your own horses or borrow a racehorse." she asked as she grabbed a racing saddle and lightweight snaffle bridle. Tacking him up, she led him out of his stall and mounted at the mounting block
((ugh, can't concentrate))
