C.K. pulled into the parking lot of Masons, she hadn't been in the area for long, but had heard that it was the place to be. She figured that there wouldn't be many people there yet, and that was what she was hoping for, as she was really looking for some quiet time. Though, She thought. it would be nice to meet someone... Shaking her head softly she reached for the key, turn it to the left, shutting off the ignition, she slipped her keys into the front pocket of her jeans, opened the door of her truck, and hopped down. Slamming the door, she glanced up and looked around, the sun was just starting to sink, so it was still light out. The reason she had known that there probably wouldn't be very many people at the bar yet, was because it was still only about six, and there most likely wouldn't be very many people out until at least eight, or nine.
Brushing off her jeans, the girl pushed open the door to Masons, the bartender looked up, nodded to her, then looked away. Walking up to the bar she ordered a coke, figuring she could get a drink later, she handed him the money, and sat down at the bar. She leaned back, putting her elbows on the bar, after taking a sip of her coke, she looked around, smiling slightly when she saw that there really weren't many people because of the time. She had let her hair down, the jagged cut framing her face, she had just thrown on a pair of black, slightly faded, jeans, a T-shirt, and a gray sweatshirt. Setting her drink down, she put her right hand on her left wrist, pushed the sleeves of her sweatshirt up, then repeated the action on the other side. She settled back against the bar, taking another sip of her drink, watching the floor.

Simon Hiddle brushed a dark hair out of his eyes. His daughter seemed to have inherited most of her looks from him. His features were angled, like his daughter's, and perceptive. His skin was pale, and seemed slightly unhealthy. He was the ghost of a man whose dashing looks had been robbed of him after what seemed multible lifetimes of miserable times. Nonetheless, he was happier than the regular man, as any little thing seemed to please him. His withered appearence made him look older than thirty seven.
Only when he smiled, did a ghost of his old, charming self reveal itself. He grinned slightly as he entered the bar, as he was greeted by the bar tender who knew him all too well. He found himself seated beside a girl, who looked barely overage. He sipped his beer with a wistful look on his face, and glanced at her. "Hello," he said, only being polite. It seemed strange to talk in such formal terms to one at the bar. Usually he knew everyone. "You don't come here often do you?"

The girl sitting at the bar seemed to be following some pattern in the floor, head tilted curiously to the side. When the sound of the door opening reached her, she looked up, though her head was still down mostly, her hair obscuring her face. She brushed her hair out of her face and sat up straighter when he sat down next to her, she snatched her drink off of the bar top and took a sip. Looking over at him when he said something, she smiled lightly, her chocolate brown eyes watching him curiously. "Hey. No, I actually just moved here a few days ago.."
Christy struggled to keep her smile, though managed, when she realised how pale the man's skin was, she wondered if it was naturally like that, or if he was sick. She wanted to ask, but knew that would be rude, so she just took another sip of her drink, turned in her stool so her back was more to the tables, and looked over at the man again. "My names C.K., by the way." She was happy to meet someone new, though she had almost hoped for someone more her own age, then again, she peered closer at the man. How old was he? It looked as if he could be in his late 30's or.. sighing inwardly, C.K. dropped it, she didn't want to plague herself with these idiotic thoughts, she could just ask him herself.. later.

He grinned slightly at the fleeting look of annoyance. He motioned to his skin. "I'm not really sick... just had a bit of a rough patch for the last er... 10 years?" He shook his head, once more, astonished at his foolishness. "Probably hoping to meet someone a bit younger eh? Not an old fart like me?"
He arched his eyebrows, cocking his head, sincerely interested in her answer. "If I told you I was 30 would you believe me? Just out of curiosity..." he trailed off, still chuckling slightly to himself at the rudeness of people. Many a story there had been of some sort of God disguised as a begger, and how many times he had been turned away. He shrugged inwardly, regretting the terrible turn culture had taken.

Christy let out a breathy laugh at his bluntness. Am I that easy to read? She thought in annoyance to herself, shaking her head lightly, she flashed an easy smile, leaning against the bar. "Can you read minds? Or do my thoughts just scroll across my forehead?" The girl asked him in a joking manner, taking a long sip of her drink. "And yes, I was hoping to meet someone closer to my age.. though, I don't think you're an old fart." She laughed quietly, seeming happy to be talking to someone.
She wrinkled her nose in thought at his question about his being 30. After a moment the girl started shaking her head slowly. "Possibly not. Though, once I've talked to you more, I could give you a better answer.." The girl was obviously implying she would like to continue talking, she added a little wink, knowing he would get it by what she was saying, but she had wanted to, anyway. She gave him a silly little smile, the girl was obviously in a good mood tonight, and her eyes were sparkling. She really was very good looking.

Simon raised an eyebrow in suprise. "And to what do I owe this opportunity to speak to one so much younger than me, and not be discreetly shunted away?" he said, his smile once again lighting up his appearance, making him look as though he had taken a mask off from his face. "Though I'm not neccesarily that much older than you," he said, cocking his head, and half smiling. "Not much older than my daughter come to think of it," he said, a whistful look appearing in his eyes. Silently he hoped C.K. wouldn't make the connection between Simon and Robin. He knew this hope was in vain, as the two looked so alike, if seen from a distance, they could easily be confused.
He took another swig of his beer, smirking slightly.

C.K. watched with curiousity as his face seemed to change completely when he smiled, making her smile as well. "You have a daughter?" She questioned lightly, something told her he wasn't that interested in talking about it, but her curiousity got the better of her, as it usually did, and she couldn't help but ask.

He nodded pursing his lips. "Yes, as I have just said, I have a daughter. My wife and I were married young," he said, his tone, in no way unkind, but clearly suggesting they were done discussing this topic. He gazed at her, looking politely attentive through wideset blue eyes.
"So m'dear, how about you? Where are you from? What brings you here?"
ooc: eh, mine too -points at post above- ick...

Christy caught his tone clearly, and inquired no further, though she wished she knew more, the girl figured she might see his daughter around. At his question, C.K. paused, what was she here for? Well, she asked that question everyday, and she still didn't have an answer. The girl grimaced at the way her thoughts sounded. C'mon, girl, you're not in a tragedy, this is fun, you get to be around horses more... Pursing her lips for a moment the girl shrugged to him, obviously lost in thought. Then, she opened her mouth. "Well, I don't know honestly what I'm doing here. I want to learn more about racing, and I need a place to keep my horses. And I do need to make some money. Hmm, I'm from way.. out there... but, its not easy for me to move to a new place, where I don't know even one person."
Christy was frowning now, though she couldn't go as far as pouting, she would have begged the man to whack her over the head if she did. Sighing, she peered up, quite sheepishly, at the man, face half-hidden by her hair. "I don't think I caught your name?" It was a question and a statement at the same time, she had just realized the man hadn't given her a name when she introduced herself, had that been intentional, or had he been caught up in other thoughts?

"Oh, excuse me," he said, frowning slightly. "My name is Simon Hiddle, and I'm 30ish," he said, smiling now. "Pleased to make your aquantaince." He bowed slightly, an amused look on his pointed features. His complection seemed slightly less gray, a little bit rosier, perhaps having to due with the fact that he had downed his beer, and was now sipping a third one.
He sighed, seemingly lost in himself.

The girl smiled, listening quietly, her smile turned into a small smirk. "Hmm, that's not too specific. I'm twenty-ish." She smiled, eying him a bit, he had more color now, though she figured it was just because he had already had two beers. Sighing quietly she looked up at the clock, her eyes widened in surprise, she had already been there for about a half an hour, though it had felt like about ten minutes. Christy looked over at Simon. "And, it's nice to meet you, Simon Hiddle." She wondered if she would be able to figure out who his daughter was. "So, do you live around here?"

He nodded, unsmiling. "Yes, I suppose my er... dwelling is in this area," he said, his look of complete seriousness. "But, no I do not live here, for isn't it true that home is where the heart is?" he said at the slight cost of sounding cliche. He arched an eyebrow, cocking his head at her, again with the strange look of polite attentiveness he had had on his face previously.

Christy frowned slightly, listening to the man speak. Was that true? She supposed it was, though it did sound a bit cliche, how else could one really say it? Is this where my heart is? She thought to herself. Too early to tell.. The girl finally decided, it had been about a minute since either of them had said anything, and her eyes were half closed, obviously lost in thought. Her thoughts were on the past, and trying to figure out what the future would bring. Definitiley horses, hopefully she would meet some more people, then she wouldn't have to go to a bar on her own. She made a face before looking up at Simon and smiling, eyes open now. "I guess it is, atleast for most people."

He furrowed his brow, quite amused with the way this conversation was ending up. "Yes, I suppose one could lie to her conscience, if necessary. But I am quite sure this is not where my daughter and I were meant to end up. Perhaps she feels differently, but I speak very little to her now. She seems to have, ah... shunned me." He thought of Robin, her pale face, so much like his own, so full of hatred when she turned her features upon his own.
He shut his eyes for a moment, a thoughtful look once more on his face. "I suppose I shall tell you about my daughter, since, as discreet as you seem to be attempting to be, it is still obvious you have a thirst for information of that subject. So, m'dear, I should tell you about Robin. Robin, is an interesting girl, who is so much more like her mother than I, though they don't look in any way alike. I will not tell you more, for fear you may stalk her, and I would hate to bestow more misery upon her than she already has to deal with."
He pressed his finger tips together, looking like a spider doing push ups on a mirror. He peered around from behind this characteristic gesture with wide set blue eyes.
